Czech Republic internationals had a week of mixed fortunes with their clubs across Europe. Goalkeeper Matěj Kovář was the standout, keeping a clean sheet in PSV Eindhoven's 2-0 Eredivisie win over Heerenveen on Friday, 9 October. Kovář also played the full match in PSV's 1-0 Champions League loss to RB Leipzig four days later.
Performances in Top Leagues
In the English Premier League, Antonín Kinský earned a point at Old Trafford. The Czech goalkeeper played the full match for Tottenham Hotspur in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United. It was a tougher day for Lukáš Horníček, whose Newcastle side lost 4-1 to Coventry. In the German Bundesliga, all three Czechs at Hoffenheim were on the losing side. Adam Hložek and Robin Hranáč came off the bench, Vladimír Coufal played the full match, but the team fell 3-2 to Hamburger SV.
Action in Other Leagues
In the Belgian Pro League, Lukáš Ambros helped Anderlecht to a 2-1 win over Cercle Brugge, playing the first half. Alex Král featured for most of FC Copenhagen's 2-1 Danish Superliga loss to Midtjylland.
These individual performances come as the national team seeks to regain its footing. The Czech side has lost its last four matches, most recently a 3-0 defeat to England on 6 October. Manager Ivan Hašek's team will get its next chance to turn things around on 12 November when they host Spain at home.
